Jack Malott-Carke @superherokidjackmc who inspired #SuitUpForJack is a 12 year old Cosplayer with Severe Aplastic Anaemia. Jack loves Superheros and has become one himself through his activism for blood donation. When you Suit Up For Jack you are really suiting up for every sick kid or adult who needs your help.
From an early age, Jack enjoyed dressing in costume (cosplay) and attending comic con events. In 2019 that stopped when Jack was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anaemia. A year later he was also diagnosed with Paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria.
This serious condition affects the body’s ability to make healthy blood which means his bone marrow is empty. So far Jack has received 132 units of blood and platelets. He has become an advocate for Canadian Blood Services. The #suitupforjack campaign was created to encourage blood donation to help others. Thats what superheroes do! Jack is just one of many kids with Severe Aplastic Anaemia. Kids around the world, including your area are fighting diseases like childhood cancers, Lymphoblastic Leukemia, Dykeratosis Congentia and others which often require the support of blood and blood products.
Cosplayers often visit sick kids in hospital but when they Suit Up For Jack they can actually support these kids and save lives. It's easy to do. Just contact your local blood donor clinic to book an appointment. Show up in Cosplay and have fun while saving lives. Please share your donation photos on social media with the hashtag #suitupforjack so others can learn about the campaign. If you send us your photos we will be happy to post them also.
